A modern version of a traditional floral Bedfordshire collar, the design taken from an antique collar, dated c1890’s. This is one of the inspirations for the MA stage one work, the large flamboyant collar with botanical influence. The leaves breaking through the edge on the neck side of the collar, add to the natural feel in the design.
Designed from an easily recognisable textured bathroom glass, into a piece of traditional appearance, floral Bedfordshire lace.
Design from a museum unit pricking, with a corner designed and added to create a complete Floral Bedfordshire handkerchief edging. Features raised and rolled tallies on the flower petals.

A contemporary piece of lace but created using traditional floral Bedfordshire lace techniques. Designed by Anita Wilkinson as a challenge. Worked as two pieces of lace and then stiffened and shaped into 3D form.
The two pieces of lace are traditional Bucks Point lace design, from a published source, which look very different created in black and white. The design would have originally been created for working in black.
