Competition win
8th April 2011
One of my recent pieces has just won first prize in a competition run to create a piece of jewellery for Mother’s Day by Cookson’s Precious Metals, Birmingham.
This piece was created in memory of my late Mother, and features 19th century lace on one side, and a re-creation of my late Father's wood turning on the reverse. The piece is significant to my own history, in that it relates to my work on memories, and time in connection with the MA programme currently being undertaken at university. My mother always loved the lace I created and was very fond of lace jewellery and so I created this in her memory to mark the two years since losing her. I was delighted to receive the news that it had won this competition and felt it a fitting tribute to her memory, two years on.
